Who Is A Candidate For JEUVEAU®?
JEUVEAU® is a good option for adults who are bothered by the vertical lines that form between the brows (glabellar lines or “11s”) when frowning or concentrating. Some patients come in during their late 20s or early 30s to stay ahead of the lines before they deepen. Others are in their 40s, 50s, or 60s, and want to soften a crease that’s already set in without changing anything else about how they look.
JEUVEAU® works well for anyone who wants a natural result, not a stiff or surprised look. That includes clients who have had injectables for years and know exactly what they want, as well as first-timers who are a little nervous and want a provider who will explain each step. JEUVEAU® isn’t recommended if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a neuromuscular condition like myasthenia gravis or ALS. The JEUVEAU® Treatment
There’s not much prep required before a JEUVEAU® appointment, which is part of why it fits so easily into a busy schedule. We do recommend pausing blood thinners, fish oil, and anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin or ibuprofen for about a week beforehand if your doctor approves, since this can help minimize bruising at the injection sites. Skip alcohol the night before, and come in with a clean face, free of makeup on the treatment area.
When you arrive, you’ll be brought to a private treatment room by one of our medical staff. Your provider will start by asking you to frown, raise your brows, and make a few other expressions so they can map exactly which muscles are creating your lines. This is what allows the treatment to look natural instead of frozen; no two faces are marked the same way. A topical numbing cream can be applied if you’re sensitive to needles, though most patients feel they don’t need it.
Using a fine needle, your provider injects small, measured amounts of JEUVEAU® directly into the mapped muscles. Each injection takes just a few seconds, and most people describe the sensation as a quick pinch or a light sting rather than anything painful. Your provider will continue checking in throughout, adjusting placement as needed to match your goals and anatomy.
The entire appointment, from consultation to injections, typically takes about 10-15 minutes. There’s no recovery room, no sedation, and no need to block off your afternoon.
JEUVEAU® Recovery and Results
There’s no recovery period after JEUVEAU®, which is one of the reasons it’s such an easy treatment to work into a normal week. You can drive yourself home, run errands, or go back to your desk right after your appointment. The only real restrictions are for the rest of that day: Skip strenuous workouts, avoid lying down flat for a few hours, and don’t rub or massage the treated area. Pressing on the treated muscles too soon can cause the product to shift before it’s had a chance to settle.
Mild redness, small bumps at the injection sites, or slight bruising are the most common side effects, and they typically fade within a day or two. Makeup can usually be applied later that same day if needed, once any redness has calmed down.
Results build gradually rather than showing up all at once. Most people notice the first softening around day 2, with the treated muscle continuing to relax over the next couple of weeks. By day 30, the full effect is usually visible, with smoother skin between the brows and an expression that still moves and reads as you. From there, most patients hold onto their results for 3-4 months before the muscle activity gradually returns and the lines start to reappear. Because of that timeline, most people come in for a touch-up about 3 times a year to stay ahead of the reappearance. We’ll typically check in around the 3-month mark to see how you’re settling and get you back on the calendar before the lines have a chance to fully return.
