Laser Hair Removal

One of the Best Inventions Ever!

Good news travels fast and we have all heard about laser hair removal (LHR).  It’s as common as waxing now a days.  But we do need to remember LHR is a medical procedure and should be done only by a medically trained and licensed practitioners.  In California this includes a licensed M.D., R.N., PA or Nurse Practitioner.

A laser beam of light passes harmlessly through the skin, but is absorbed by pigment in the hair follicle.  By absorbing this laser energy, the hair follicles are disabled by the thermal heat, impairing their ability to grow.  This thermal damage causes delayed re-growth of the hair, and permanent  destruction to the hair follicle.  Unlike electrolysis, which kills one hair follicle at a time, the laser reaches and treats hundreds of follicles at a time.

LHR will take up to several treatments depending on the area and how the hair responds to the laser.  LHR will not work on white, gray or light blonde hair follicles.
