Genetics, posture, aging, facial structure, loose skin, age, and excess fat can all contribute to a double chin. Nonetheless, a double chin can cause insecurity and lower confidence. A double chin consists of stubborn fat underneath the chin and neck area. Kybella is a nonsurgical alternative to liposuction for fat removal from the double chin.

Testimonial

“Got a diamond glow yesterday and my face feels like it’s drinking water from a fountain of youth. I looked in the mirror this morning and I think I can see actual diamonds inside my pours. They also watched my dog at the front desk for 45 minutes. Five stars for brotox”

What is Kybella?

Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin (submental fullness) by physically destroying fat cells. Kybella is a non-surgical treatment that uses a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid. Kybella diminishes a double chin by destroying excess fat cells below the skin through direct injection into the fat. Immune cells then clear away the damaged cells and promote the production of collagen.

Who is a Candidate for Kybella?

Candidates for Kybella injectable treatments include adults experiencing moderate to severe fat below the chin. Individuals with skin infections in the treatment area should postpone their treatment appointment. The best way to determine if you are an ideal candidate for Kybella is through a consultation with an injector specialist at Coastal Medical Aesthetics.

Your appointment will always start with a complimentary consultation.  During the consultation, we will be able to determine what areas would most benefit from Kybella and how many syringes you will need to achieve maximum results.

The Kybella Treatment

Before your Kybella injectable treatment begins, a topical numbing agent will be applied to the cleansed treatment area to reduce any possible discomfort. You will then wait for the numbing cream to become effective before your injection begins. Your skilled injector will carefully mark the areas of injection. The Kybella solution will then be applied in 20 to 50 injection sites under the chin. The deoxycholic acid will then work to kill the fat cells that your body will soon metabolize over the next few weeks. The number of syringes that you require will be based on the amount of excess fat that you have. Your Kybella treatment will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Kybella Recovery and Results

Downtime after Kybella will vary from one individual to another. Most patients can expect to resume their daily activities as normal a day after their Kybella injectable treatment. The treatment area may feel tender for one to two weeks post-treatment. You may also experience swelling that can be covered with a scarf or bandage. Other temporary side effects include pain, numbness, redness, and hardness in the treatment area.  Multiple Kybella treatment sessions may be required to receive your desired results. Patients may receive up to six Kybella treatments with one month between each session.
